Description

Inspired by old books of Nisshinkan in Aizu Wakamatsu who made school for Samurais.
Olive Green antique book pattern presents Mt. Fuji background and pine tree on front space, with the fling plovers group in the sky. Mt. Fuji appointed by UNESCO world heritage site in 2014, is beautiful, highest and most famous mountain(3,776m = 12,388feet high) in Japan. The mountain can be seen widely from distant cities and has been popular among people, considered as sacred mountain. All these motif are items of good fortune, used for many occasions of cerebrations.
Ivory yellow book behind has weaving Chinese bell flower motif. Background are pine tree needles, peony and bamboo leaves by gold thread, flower-shaped rhombus, and backside is white chrysanthemum. Peony is originally grown in China from ancient time and is considered as symbol of wealth. Flower shaped rhombus is one of popular patterns used for ancient practice at events of royal family, high ranked Kuge (Court noble) or aristocrats. Four petals of flower are expressed in diamond shaped and repeating this motif was called happy diamond-shape.
This obi woven fabric is very thick, used great amount of silk threads and excellent piece of antique obi.  All hand-made in Japan.
