Inspired by gorgeous golden temple, Konjikido in Hiraizumi in Iwate prefecture. Phoenix- symbol of wealth and long-life.

Phoenix is an imaginal bird in China, considered to appear when something joyful occa
sion happens, such as when respected prince became King. They are also considered as the symbol of wealth. They are believed to drink the cold spring water, eat the fruits of bamboo, have beautiful voice and live forever. Their feature are beautiful feather and long tail. Phoenix was brought to Japan with buddism in AC 600, and used as the design pattern already in Asuka era (6th century), ancient time in Japan. The pattern is considered as very cerebrating, pattern used for wedding robe or as brides and grooms’ family kimono. This tomesode kimono is used by family of bride, probably a mother. Bringing to you a good memory of this Kimono experienced.
